IBS is governed by a Board of Governors and led operationally by the Headmaster. Every department has a head, every teacher a subject line-manager, every pupil a class teacher. Hover, click, or expand any card to see the reporting line.
Governance principles
The hierarchy above is not just a chart — it is enforced by these five principles.
Academic, financial and safeguarding decisions have distinct approvers. No single role can spend, mark and audit alone.
Each role has explicit authority limits recorded in the Charter and the RACI matrix in our SchoolOS.
Class teacher → HOD → Assistant Head → Headmaster → Proprietor → Board of Governors. Every concern has a home.
The Board of Governors reviews strategy quarterly and receives a monthly executive pack from the Headmaster.
Parents, staff and pupils can submit ideas or concerns via our anonymous suggestions channel. Every submission is triaged in five working days.
Our Prefects Board gives pupils a formal channel into leadership decisions that affect them.
