Every pupil belongs to a house from admission to graduation. Houses compete in sports, academics, cultural events and the Christ-the-Key Trophy each June.

Every learner belongs to at least one club. From the debate hall to the football pitch, from the coding lab to the chapel choir — there’s a space at IBS for what makes you come alive.

How to pick the right club — a parent & pupil guide
Choosing a club shapes friendships, confidence and skills for life. Here’s our best advice.
1 Try two, not five
We recommend one core (academic or arts) plus one active (sport or service). Too many clubs = tired homework, missed practice, and no depth. Depth beats breadth.
2 Follow the spark, not the badge
Prefectship is not the point. Join what makes you show up early on a Wednesday. Leadership follows joy, not the other way round.
3 Show up for the first four meetings
Clubs feel awkward on day one. Give it four meetings before you decide. Most captains say the fourth session is when a member becomes family.
4 Balance faith & fun
Chapel choir or Bible study anchors the week. A sport or arts club releases it. IBS pupils grow best when both are present.
5 Talk to the patron first
Every club has a patron (a staff advisor). Ask them: “What does a good member of your club do?” Their answer tells you everything.
6 Try one that stretches you
A quiet pupil in Debate. A restless one in Reading. A boy in Netball. IBS clubs are for growth, not comfort. Ask your form master to nominate.
