You don't need to be an educator to change a child's life. You need a heart, a skill, and a few hours a term. Below are the six ways to help, ordered by time commitment. Every button opens a working link.

Six ways to help
Reading buddy
Hear pupils read one-to-one. 4 hours per week, term time. Perfect for retired teachers, NSS, university students.
Best for:
- Confident English reader
- Patient with children
- Available Tues/Thurs 3-5 pm
Careers Day speaker
Twice a year we invite alumni and professionals to talk to JHS pupils about their trade or profession — 15 minutes each.
Best for:
- Any working professional
- Alumni especially welcome
- 2 dates per year (Apr & Nov)
Weekend sports coach
Coach football, netball, or athletics on Saturday mornings. Term-time; ~10 Saturdays per term.
Best for:
- Prior playing or coaching experience
- Age 20+
- First-aid trained (or willing)
Bazaar & events
Help set up, run stalls, umpire games, or clear up after our biggest fundraisers of the year.
Best for:
- Any parent or alumnus
- One-day commitment
- Bazaar (Nov) · Founders' Day (Jul)
Health & wellbeing talks
Nurses, doctors, midwives, counsellors — come and talk to a class or an assembly on a topic that matters.
Best for:
- Registered health professionals
- Age-appropriate content
- 1 hour per term
Community service partner
We run one community-service day per term. Community organisations can host our JHS pupils for 3 hours.
Best for:
- Local clinics, churches, NGOs, care homes
- Kid-safe environments only
- 1 morning per term
